George was a farmer, merchant, and minister.
A family folk tale says that in 1773 he went to Kentucky with Daniel Boone where they were attached by Indians near Cumberland Gap, so returned home.
If George and his brother did accompany Daniel Boone, it was when he went to Florida.  Daniel wanted to settle there, but his wife refused to go.
They went instead to Kentucky.  George was drafted but fled to North Carolina to avoid service.  In 1784, moved to 300 acres on the banks of the Nolachuckee, a tributary of the Holston River, near Afton, Greene County, North Carolina.  This area later become part of Tennessee.  In 1803, moved to the Stacey Bivan farm on Todds Fork, Union Township, Clinton County, Ohio.  They were the second settlers in Union Township.  They bought 1750 acres bear Center MH, Clinton County, Ohio.
